Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Policy

Commitment to DEIA Principles
At the International Journal of Contemporary Educational Research (IJCER), diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility are not only ethical imperatives but also essential components of scholarly progress. IJCER is committed to fostering an academic environment where individuals from all backgrounds can contribute to, participate in, and benefit from the process of scientific publication on equal terms.
Expanding Representation
IJCER actively supports the participation of researchers, editors, and reviewers from communities that have been historically underrepresented in academia. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals of diverse ethnic origins, physical abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and geographical locations. All editorial decisions—such as author, reviewer, and editor selection—are based solely on academic merit and relevance of content, without influence from personal characteristics, institutional affiliation, or geographic region.
Inclusive Editorial Structures
The journal encourages the formation of editorial and advisory boards that represent a broad spectrum of disciplines, career stages, regional contexts, and lived experiences. Regular reviews of editorial composition are conducted to ensure balance, inclusivity, and ongoing development in representation and expertise.
Conscious and Unbiased Evaluation
Editors and reviewers are expected to conduct all evaluations with impartiality, professional sensitivity, and cultural awareness. IJCER promotes continued learning and awareness-building initiatives to minimize unconscious bias and strengthen equitable peer review practices. Training and guidance on inclusive editorial conduct are encouraged across the journal’s editorial network.
Accessible Publishing
IJCER is committed to ensuring that all digital content is technically and functionally accessible to individuals with disabilities, in alignment with international accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG). The journal strives to minimize technical barriers and enhance readability for all users. In addition, IJCER particularly welcomes research that addresses educational inequalities, social determinants of learning, and access to educational resources across diverse populations.
Reporting and Accountability
Any concerns or violations related to DEIA principles may be reported by authors, reviewers, editors, or readers. All notifications will be addressed confidentially and in accordance with the COPE ethical framework to ensure fair and constructive resolution.
Editorial and Institutional Commitment
IJCER values a publishing environment that is transparent, fair, and inclusive. The journal’s ongoing goal is to create an ecosystem where diverse voices are heard, equal opportunities are maintained, and academic excellence thrives through inclusivity. By embedding DEIA principles into all aspects of editorial practice, IJCER reaffirms its commitment to ethical, responsible, and globally accessible scholarly publishing.
